How it Works

1. A high resolution, recent photo of the applicant's head and shoulders, facing forward, normal face expression.
   If you are only able to provide a hard copy photo print, you can mail it to us, with a completed hard copy application form - click here to download.
2. Credit card details or confirmation from your employer/airport manager to use account.
3. Sufficient identification:
   Accepted Identification Documents
   Primary
   • Birth Certificate
   • Australia Citizenship Certificate or Passport (if not Australian ensure you also have details of entry to Australia)
   Secondary
   • Photographic licence or similar (e.g. Driver's Licence)
   Tertiary

Various types of other identification are permitted but not preferred as they would usually need to be verified (email us for clarification, or click here if you don't have a secondary identification document).

You may provide either; one primary plus one secondary, or one primary plus two tertiary.

During the application you will be asked to indicate how we will sight your identification documents, including an option to scan and email.

Alternatively, you can send the certified copies to Security ID via mail, which will be returned to you upon verification.

Note - if your application is for a renewal it may not be necessary to sight identification documents again.

Once we receive your application and verification of identification documents, we apply to AusCheck for clearance on the same day.

When the clearance is received we print and send your card on the same day.

Your card expiry date will be two years (to the last day of the month) from the date of clearance, unless special circumstances apply or special conditions are imposed.
